Case Study: HRM Homecare HR Administrator Craig talks about his career in Social Care.

Craig Proudfoot Case Study, HR and Recruitment Officer for HRM Homecare

When I was younger, I hadn’t considered a career like the one I have now. I have been working for HRM Homecare since 2016. I work in HR and recruitment and joining the company marked a big turning point in my life.

Following a training course for office administration I got an interview with HRM Homecare and came in as an administrator in their offices.

The three and a half years since have been a great experience. At first, I was involved with a lot of data input, so I’d speak to fellow staff and also to service users. I really got to know them and developed good relationships with people. I do still miss talking to them as I had a good rapport with everyone.

However, now I work in a slightly different side of the business in HR, which has been extremely rewarding as I am involved not only with the staff at HRM Homecare but also helping encourage other people to consider a move to the care at home sector, be it as a Carer or on the administrative side like me.

I feel I can tell them first-hand just how rewarding jobs in this sector are, and why considering a career in care at home is a life-changing career option that they will not regret making.

My role has become increasingly interesting as we move to a more digital way of working, such as conducting online interviews and implementing new systems. I am always learning something new and my IT knowledge is continuously growing. Some of the skills that I have acquired over the years I did not expect to develop while working in Social Care which has been great.

For me, there is nothing more rewarding than caring for somebody, or helping a team to provide the support that allows people to live well in their own home.

Care at home is a profession that will always provide rewarding careers for people. I talk from personal experience when I say that it has changed my life working for HRM Homecare. There are plenty of opportunities for others to do the same if they seize the chance like I did.
